The chances that Governor ‘Seyi Makinde will be re-elected as the Governor of Oyo State waxes stronger as associations and organisations have thrown their weight behind his second term ambition.
The Omituntun 2.0 has received major boost on Saturday as Igbo Community in Oyo State declared their unalloyed support for the realisation of his second term bid in office.
The main hall of a popular event centre at NTC road, Ibadan was filled to the brim as members of the Igbo Community across the geo-political zones of the state turned out in their large numbers to declare their support for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s second term in office.
Addressing members of the community, Governor Makinde said the mantra of the present government is to maintain equity among ethnic groups in Oyo State, adding that the state government has provided an enabling environment for indigene and non-indigene businesses to thrive.
While pledging to address various demands tabled before him, Governor Makinde thanked the Igbo community in the state for their cooperation and love shown to him.
He, however, assured them of more dividends of democracy in Omititun 2.0 if re-elected to serve beyond 2023.
The governor equally charged members of the community to vote for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state in the next general elections.
In her remarks, an ally of the governor, Hon (Barrister) Rita Orji lauded the sterling performances of the governor declaring that his track records in the last three and half years have endeared him to both indigenes and non-indigenes in the state.
Rita, therefore, urged all Igbos across the 33 local to cast their votes for all PDP candidates in the state in the forthcoming general elections.
Earlier in their separate remarks, the leaders of the Igbo community explained that Governor Makinde has remained accommodating and impacted positively in the lives of Igbos and other residents in the state, noting that the current administration has created an enabling environment for the Ndi-Igbo’s business to flourish.
Meanwhile, the event was attended by top government functionaries and candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 elections.
