Oyo Govt Receives Last Batch of 3,300 YEAP Trained-Youth From Nasarawa

The officials of Oyo state government, have received the last batch of the 3, 300 Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Programme (YEAP) beneficiaries, following their arrival from Nasarawa state on Sunday, at the Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.

The participants numbering up to 300 are the last set of youth from Oyo state, who were being trained in agribusiness.

Recall Oyoaffairs.net had reported that the Oyo state government had signed a memorandum of understanding with the CSS Global Integrated Farms in Nasarawa State, to train 3,300 youths from the state on agriculture and agribusiness starting from August 2021.

The 3,300 youths were drawn from across the 33 Local Government Areas of the state including non-indigenes resident in the state.

The youths numbering about three hundred who could not contain their joy and excitement sang and danced while recounting their experiences during the Agribusiness training programme which lasted them for two weeks in Nasarawa state.

Briefing journalists shortly after their arrival, the Director General of Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), who also doubles as the Executive Adviser to Governor on Agribusiness Matters, Dr. Debo Akande, represented by Mr. Olufemi Ilori, the Director of YEAP and Technical Service, Oyo state Agribusiness Development Agency, maintained that the training was part of the state government’s commitment towards preparing the youths ahead of the Agricultural revolution in the state, in term of acquisition of necessary skills to key into the government’s Agricultural agenda.

Akande said state government has made provisions for financial support for the YEAP graduands which will be rolled out in batches to enable effective monitoring and guidance.

The Oyo State Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Project (YEAP) aims to pursue inclusive agribusiness training by empowering the youths to benefit from emerging opportunities and transformation processes across the agricultural value chain.
