The Oyo State Police Command has announced the inauguration of a Special Joint Traffic Enforcement Task Force comprising of the Police and Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps to clampdown on unauthorized use of Sirens, unregistered vehicle number plates, covered number plates and others.
This is even as the State Police Command said the enforcement of the laws banning unlawful use of sirens, revolving lights, flashers, unregistered vehicle number plates, covered plate numbers and spy plate numbers by motorists and other road users in the state will take immediate effect adding that the command has been commissioned for this purpose.
A press statement by the Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adewale Osifeso and made available to newsmen on Monday indicated that anyone found culpable will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
This move according to the Oyo state Police Command will instill safety and sanity on all public highways and other roads throughout Oyo State.
The statement reads in part: “In the same vein, a ‘Special Joint Traffic Enforcement Task Force’ comprising of the Police and Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Oyo State Command has been commissioned for this purpose.
“Members of the Public are therefore implored to continue to be law-abiding and also cooperate with the Task Force team in ridding the State of all forms of traffic offences.”
