A Oyo State Ward Councillor is under police investigations for making threat to life of residents in a bid to protect his principal Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Oyo State Commissioner of Agriculture.
Iresa-Adu Ward Councillor Nelson Adeniran made the threat to the lives of Mr Adeleke Adepoju, Mayowa Abiodun and Afolabi Oluranti according to the petition written by the Solicitors of the trio to the Ogbomoso Police Area Command and to the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde.
Mr Adeleke Adepoju, Mayowa Abiodun, and Afolabi Oluranti, promotes cultural heritage of Iresa town through the auspices IRESA TV page on Facebook and subsequently conducted an interview with the Mogaji of Emiolu Ruling House, one of the two royal families who rotates the Aresa-Adu throne; under the freedom of expression and and freedom of information act.
In the video released in May 2025 the Mogaji of Emiolu, Pa Julius Olanipekun expressed his frustration that there are people within their own family in the Emiolu Ruling House who have been deliberately sabotaging the family case for years. In the interview the Mogaji explicitly mentioned “LASUN OLALEYE” as one of the alleged saboteurs.
The name ‘Lasun Olaleye’ is closely related to the name of the Commissioner of Agriculture, ‘Olasunkanmi Olaleye’, who is also said to be from Emiolu Ruling House of Iresa-Adu. The followers of the Commissioner in a bid to express their anger over the interview resorted to both social media and physical threats to life of the management and staff of the Online Channel who conducted the interview.
Commissioner Olasunkanmi Olaleye who also happens to be a candidate since 2019 vying for the embattled throne of Aresa-adu of Iresa-Adu was unreachable to get his comments on the matter by our correspondents. However, social media evidence shows multiple verbal attacks and verbal aggressions by his followers towards the Online Channel.
The Mogaji of Emiolu family, Pa Olanipekun in the interview claimed that the current court case in the Ibadan High Court to get justice on the Aresa-Adu throne, is the Emiolu family against Prince Adeyeye Oyerinde who claimed to be current Aresa-adu. The Mogaji claimed a few individuals within the Emiolu family orchestrated a plan to distrupt the case on the final day of hearing on 30th April 2025 by introducing a new lawyer along with a new motion which caused the cased to be adjourned as against the speedy trial that have been experienced prior to the attempted sabotage by these lawyer and his sponsors.
A court document circulating on social media dated April 2025 showed a LAFENWA POPOOLA, TIMOTHY TUWAGUN, KOLA OLADIPO, OLADELE OLALEYE as claimant who alleged they were not aware of the court case which had stated August 2024. An elder from Emiolu family, Prince Tunwagun, linked Oladele Olaleye as the brother to the Commissioner Olasunkanmi Olaleye. Prince Tunwagun further express that “the family have asked the Commissioner several times to leave government and contest like every other candidate instead of orchestrating delay tactics since 2019. It is now going 7years, we do not have a king, the family is fed up, the Kingmakers are fed up, Iresa-Adu town is fed up, which is why our Mogaji have been forced to speak out publicly”.
Reports have it that the Commissioner whose name is circling this incident was once the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for almost 2years. According to Prince Jimoh, “Lasun was the Oyo State Commmisioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters from 2022 to 2023 and yet, he could not resolve Aresa-adu matter. We have been engulfed by rollercoster of meaningless court cases. However, this latest move by thess four individuals including Lasun’s younger brother proves the family years long suspicions about the Commissioner.
Former Attorney General of Oyo State, Chief Michael Lana has been the legal Counsel for the Emiolu family in the latest court case, sitting in Ibadan. Despite this, the Mogaji who has been under pressure to speak, expressed his frustration in the interview. Prince Oladipupo said, “The family lost a case which started in 2019, case HOI/4/2019 here in Orile-Igbon, we lost that case on 24th March 2023. We lost a 4years long case in the same month Governor Seyi Makinde got re-elected. 4days after the re-election. A case that Olasunkanmi was the main consultant for the legal team, draw your own conclusions”.
The frustration shown by Pa Julius Olanipekun in the video and the mention of “Lasun Olaleye” has prompted negative reaction towards Commissioner Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye. Since the interview video release, few youths from the town who are followers of Commissioner Olasunkanmi have been writing on IRESA TV Facebook page, with the aim to protect the image of the Commissioner Olasunkanmi Olaleye. Evidence also shows direct threat by the Iresa-Adu Ward Councillor Nelson Adeniran towards IRESA TV staff. Further threats to life allegations are been investigated by the police
