A few weeks after Mohammed Auwal was suspended for 1 year by the IMC for urinating on the pitch, he finally opened up and disclosed the reason behind his action.
According to the information gathered, Auwal Mohammed had accosted Akwa United coach and players on their way to the main pitch saying they would not be allowed to plant any voodoo on it.
Coach Ayeni invited him to join their prayer circle on the centre of the pitch. Eventually, Akwa had their prayers and subsequently sprayed the pitch with ‘holy water’.
However, in an apparent anger, Auwal raced forward to confront Ayeni for his affront at pouring ‘juju water’ on the pitch, and threatened to neutralise it with his urine.
In his reaction, Ayeni insisted that it was just a bottle of ‘holy water’ to seal their point of prayer at picking a positive result in Ibadan. He added that God has shown him that Akwa United would leave Ibadan with a favourable result and whoever stands in the way of the Lord shall be put to shame.
Recall that Auwal urinated on the pitch and the game ended in 2-2.
Auwal, has however, been suspended for 1 year by the IMC and Shooting Stars was fine the sum of N500, 000.
