U–23 AFCON: Makinde Hosts Olympic Eagles, Gifts Players N10m, Promises Another $25,000

The Governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde has splashed N10 million and $25,000 on the under-23 Olympic Eagles team ahead of their match against Tanzania on Saturday (today).

Makinde made the promise at a dinner organised by the state government for the team at Government House, Agodi, Ibadan on Friday evening.

Makinde gave the team a sum of ten million naira during the visit while promising to give additional twenty thousand dollars at Lekan Salami Stadium on Saturday, regardless of the result.

He added that the present administration will continue to promote sports development among other opportunities in football.

In the meantime, the event had in attendance, Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal, Speaker Oyo House of Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin, Head of Service, Alhaja Ololade Agboola, Deputy Chief of Staff, Ademola Ojo, DG Due Process, Ms Tara Adefope, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr Seun Fakorede, and the Special Assistant on Youth and Sports, Kazeem Bolarinwa.

Special Assistant on Sports Development, Tobi Oyewumi, and Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Victor Olojede were also in attendance.
