The trial of the alleged murderers of the OAU MBA student, Timothy Adegoke commences in Osun today.
Gbade Adegoke, the elder brother to the deceased made this known to the PUNCH Newspaper yesterday.
“The case will come up on Thursday by 9am in Osogbo,” he said.
The owner of Hiltons Hotel, Ile-Ife, Osun state, Dr Ramon Adedoyin, and others were arrested in connection with the death of one Adegoke, who was reportedly murdered in his hotel on November 6, 2021, where he had lodged in preparation for his MSc examination at the Distance Learning Centre of the OAU, at Moro, near the campus in Ile-Ife town.
It would be recalled that the case was first brought before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Gudu, in Apo, Abuja; before the prosecutor on February 7 withdrew the matter for the purpose of further investigations.
However, counsel to the family of the deceased, Femi Falana, SAN, had written to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, asking that the matter be returned to Osun state, where the alleged crime was committed.
Meanwhile, the defendants are expected to appear before an Osun State High Court, sitting in Osogbo.
Also, reacting to the development, the Spokesperson of Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola has said the trial would commence today.
Opalola said, “I wouldn’t know if they are around or not, but I know the matter will begin on Thursday.”
