Oyo Police Engage Security Agencies, Stakeholders Ahead of Saturday’s Election

No fewer than 200 traditional leaders, community leaders, religious leaders, students organisation and Ibadan Mogajis in Oyo State have converged on the headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command for a security meeting ahead of the Saturday elections.

The leaders drawn from the 33 local government areas of the state were received by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams and other security agents.

Welcoming the traditional leaders, CP Adebowale Williams solicited their support in ensuring a violence-free election.

He further allayed the fears of many residents over the rumour that some unscrupulous elements were already in the state to disrupt the election.

CP Adebowale, who assured the leaders of adequate security, admonished them to çontinue to provide adequate security in their domains.

In a Goodwill message, the Okere of Saki, Oba Kahlid Olabisi suggested increase in the number of security personnel at the collation centres .

The State Director, National Orientation Agency, Mr Kayode Odedokun stressed the need for the electorate to cast their votes correctly so as to make their votes count

The Aare Mogaji of Ibadan land, Alhaji Asimiyu Adepoju who advocated the need for prayers ahead of Saturday elections, urged the police to rid all polling units of people selling alcoholic drinks

In a message, the Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde has assured the people that credible elections would be held.

In the meantime, the highlight of the meeting was an award of the most friendly commissioner of police handed to CP Adebowale Williams by the National Association of Nigerian Students, Oyo State.
