Oyo Govt Partners IHS Towers, Unveils Newly-Built Innovation Hub in LAUTECH

A fully completed innovation hub has been unveiled in the premises of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomosho being an initiative of the state government in collaboration with IHS Towers, one of the leading independent owners, operators, and developers of shared telecom infrastructure.

IHS Chief Executive Officer for Nigeria; Mohamad Darwish while speaking at the the premises of the new building reiterated the company’s commitment to creating a better future for youths, using technology as a catalyst.

In his words: “The importance of technology innovation hubs cannot be overstated. It’s a quick way to create jobs and bridge the gap between the developed and developing world.

“We urge members of the university community to use the opportunity of the hub to its maximum potential”, he added.

Darwish complimented the ‘Seyi Makinde-led administration for its dedication to boosting the ICT sector.

“The Oyo state givernment’s involvement in facilitating the building of the LAUTECH Innovation Hub is extremely laudable; this will no doubt contribute significantly to the economic development of the state and country,” he said.

The hub has 120 cutting-edge technology machines for robotics, AI, data science, and machine learning (ML). The hub also features an exhibition hall, auto and micro engineering workshop, research laboratory, electronics lab, robotics lab, lecture rooms, server room and administrative offices.

The innovation hub was created and outfitted by IHS Nigeria, and it would initially serve over 3000 individuals, with an annual growth.

The hub will boost experience learning in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, autotronics, robotics, digital marketing, and blockchain by providing cutting-edge digital and technological equipment.

Through training, creativity, and a supportive environment, it will expand on existing ICT skills.
