PDP Youths Allege Wasteful Appointments, Trips by FIRS Boss Zacch Adedeji

The Coalition of Peoples Democratic Party Youths for Good Governance has expressed concerns over the management of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The FIRS is led by the Executive Chairman, Mr. Zaccheus Adedeji. At a press briefing in Abuja on Sunday, the group’s coordinator, Ikemba Chidozie, called on Mr. Adedeji to prioritize his responsibilities at the agency or consider stepping aside.

The coalition raised issues regarding what they described as “wasteful appointments” and “frequent international trips,” urging the FIRS chairman to restore efficiency and accountability within the institution.

“If he chooses to remain in office, we demand that he ensures transparency in all FIRS operations and respects the career progression of long-serving staff,” Chidozie said.

The group also emphasized the need for a focused and dedicated leadership at the FIRS, urging Mr. Adedeji to address concerns over resource management and operational efficiency.

“The FIRS is a cornerstone of Nigeria’s revenue system and must be led by someone fully committed to its mission,” Chidozie added.

The coalition called on President Bola Tinubu to take steps to ensure the agency is properly managed, highlighting the importance of transparency and accountability in public service.

“Public trust in critical institutions like the FIRS is essential for the economic stability of our nation,” the group stated.
