In a recent development, the Oyo State House of Assembly has granted approval to Governor Seyi Makinde’s request to appoint 20 Special Advisers. The decision was made after the Governor forwarded a letter of request to the House of Assembly.
Governor Makinde highlighted in his letter that since assuming office, he had made only a few appointments. However, he emphasized the need to bring on board more appointees to assist the Executive Arm in implementing its policies. The Governor’s request aligns with Section 196 Subsection 1 and 2 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
The Lawmakers unanimously praised the Governor’s decision to appoint the Special Advisers. They recognized the importance of granting the request to ensure that capable individuals join Governor Seyi Makinde in fulfilling his election campaign promises.
Hon Sanjo Adedoyin, the Majority Leader, and Hon Olusola Owolabi, representing Ibadan North East 2, both expressed their support for the appointment of Special Advisers. They emphasized that this move would enable more competent individuals to contribute to the Governor’s efforts in delivering on his promises.
Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, the Speaker of the House, stated that the approval was granted to strengthen Omituntun 2.0, referring to Governor Makinde’s vision for progress and development in Oyo State.
