The Oyo State House of Assembly has been petitioned to investigate alleged irregularities, including financial mismanagement and illegal sales of government properties, within the Oyo State Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS).
The petition was filed by the Association of Sacked Supervendors and Investors of Oyo State Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS) and addressed to the Speaker of the House. It was received by the Assembly on 21 March 2025.
The group accused the transport service’s leadership of illegal business practices, unjust treatment of vendors, and non-remittance of generated revenue. It further alleged that personnel who were members of the association—previously involved in implementing the Automated Fare Collection System—were unfairly dismissed.
The petitioners called for a thorough audit of the firm’s financial records and an investigation into corruption, favouritism, and ghost workers within the transport service.
Key Excerpts from the Petition:
“PETITION TO THE OYO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY TO INVESTIGATE FINANCIAL MISMANAGEMENT, UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES, AND ILLEGAL SALE OF GOVERNMENT ASSETS AT PACESETTER TRANSPORT SERVICES (PTS)
“We, the Association of Sacked Supervendors and Investors of Oyo State Pacesetter Transport Service (PTS), formally petition the Oyo State House of Assembly (OYHA) to investigate financial mismanagement, unjust treatment of vendors, non-remittance of revenue, and illegal sales of government assets at PTS.
“Our members played a key role in implementing the Automated Fare Collection System but were unfairly dismissed despite their contributions. We demand justice, accountability, and a transparent review of PTS’s financial dealings.”
Key Issues Raised:
- Unfair Termination of Supervendors and Investors
• Vendors were dismissed after the fare system became profitable, despite their investments.
• They were subjected to an unsustainable 2.5% commission rate, contrary to earlier promises.
• The removal of O Triumph Multi Business Limited, a consultancy representing vendors, reduced transparency. - Corruption and Favouritism
• Favoured companies allegedly received payments without rendering services.
• Suspected ghost workers and inflated financial transactions were flagged. - Revenue Diversion from E-Ticketing System
• A significant portion of revenue from the e-ticketing system (introduced on 6 May 2024) may have been diverted.
• The petitioners demanded that Touch and Pay Technologies Nigeria Limited provide full transaction records for scrutiny.
Demands:
- Forensic audit of PTS’s financial records.
- Summoning of Touch and Pay Technologies to release transaction data.
- Investigation into wrongful dismissals and reinstatement of affected vendors.
- Reversal of illegal government asset sales.
- Probe into corruption, ghost workers, and favouritism.
- Accountability for PTS officials implicated in misconduct.
The petition concluded:
“The people of Oyo State deserve transparency. We urge the Honourable House to act swiftly.”
Signed,
Mr. Ibrahim Asiwaju
Chairman, Association of Sacked Supervendors and Investors of Oyo State PTS.
