Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat, publicly criticizes the mother of the late singer Mohbad, accusing her of neglecting her son for over a decade. Hamzat suggests that her absence and disconnection from her son’s life may have contributed to the unfortunate incident that led to Mohbad’s death.
In a strongly-worded statement, Hamzat expresses his disapproval, stating, “You are a very irresponsible woman and you do not love your son. You left him for over 10 years without looking back. The first time you showed yourself to the public, you did not even show any emotion about his death.”
Hamzat further criticizes Mohbad’s mother by highlighting the efforts made by his father in raising him alone. He suggests that if she had been involved in her son’s life, this tragic incident may have been prevented. Hamzat concludes by stating that she does not deserve the title “mother,” adding, “A good woman would take her children along when she is leaving a man.”
