Oyo Govt Conducts First CBT Exam into School of Sciences, Unity schools



In a bid to promote the use of technology and ensure qualitative education delivery to the citizenry, the Oyo state government conducted its first-ever entrance examination on Saturday, into the state’s School of Sciences using the Computer Based Test (CBT) technology.

In an interview with newsmen, the immediate past Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye said: “it was Governor Makinde’s initiative as a strategic way of sustaining and improving on the educational standard in the face of COVID-19 pandemic especially as the disease has continued to advance in phases of waves.”



Many stakeholders in the education sector of the state also lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for taking education in Oyo to the next level through his deliberate dedication and investment in the sector calling the development the right step in the right direction.

The CBT examination which was held on Saturday, 24th of July at various designated CBT centres across the state was conducted for about 4,893 candidates who want to get admitted into the state Unity schools.

The Ministry of Education’s management and monitoring team, led by Permanent Secretary (PS) Mrs Aminat Atere, visited some examination centres in the Ibadan metropolis, while other top ministry officials represented the PS to monitor the conduct of this year’s annual event in all the local government areas across the State.

Mrs. Atere expressed her satisfaction with the conduct of the CBT entrance examination to journalists shortly after the monitoring exercise at the School of Science, Igboelerin, Ibadan, praising Governor Makinde for his unwavering commitment and support for quality education in Oyo State.

She advised the students to take advantage of the governor’s one-of-a-kind opportunity for a better future while assuring that the ministry will always work in tandem with Governor Seyi Makinde’s outstanding initiatives to restore Oyo to its enviable pacesetter reputation in Nigeria.

When contacted on Saturday via phone, Barrister Olaleye expressed his delight at the rate and pace of improvement in the education sector under the Seyi Makinde-led government, saying that the Governor is devoted to developing future leaders in today’s pupils who can compete at the global level.

However, the immediate past Education commissioner urged education stakeholders, including public and private sector players, to continue to support the current administration’s commitment to developing future leaders through high-quality, easily available education.
