A businessman, Akin Olaoye, has publicly accused Redeemer’s Health Center, Ibadan, of allegedly causing the death of his elder brother’s wife, Mrs. Oladunni Grace Otitoju, following what he described as “gross medical negligence” during routine laboratory tests.

According to Olaoye, the late Mrs. Otitoju, who had recently relocated to Ibadan to focus on her farm, had opted to undergo pre-travel medical tests before an upcoming trip to the United States. The tests were conducted at Redeemer’s Health Center.

In a series of posts on his X account, Olaoye detailed the incident, claiming that medical personnel at the facility “cut her veins excessively while attempting to draw blood for laboratory analysis,” leading to uncontrollable bleeding.

He wrote, “She was very healthy but bled to death. By the time she was transferred in an ambulance to Oyomeshi Specialist Hospital, Orogun, Ibadan, and admitted into the ICU at 1:45 a.m. on November 21, 2025, it was like giving medicine after death. Her arteries, already compromised, could no longer circulate blood effectively, leading to multiple organ failure.”

Olaoye further claimed that the repeated puncturing of veins resulted in “profuse bleeding, swelling of her arms and legs, and darkening of her skin due to lack of oxygen circulation,” a sequence of events he says directly contributed to her death.

He described the tragic incident as “a preventable disaster” and expressed deep anguish over the loss of Mrs. Otitoju, whom he described as an “amazing wife and devoted family member.”

Mrs. Oladunni Grace Otitoju, born November 1962, passed away in November 2025. Her death has however sparked widespread discussion on social media.

While no official report has yet been released by the Health Center and the Oyo State Ministry of Health or regulatory authorities, Olaoye has reportedly vowed to seek justice for his late sister-in-law and called on health authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
